NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work. WebEdit: The cause is either cold solder joint or a cheap capacitor gone bad, either way, it's hardware related and it's more common in monitors than you think therefore the only solutions are RMA it (if you are still within warranty), Have it repaired, replace it with a new monitor, or do what I'm doing and live with it. 4 3

For a monitor of that price you would hope it wouldn't develop … WebDec 10, 2024 · Whenever my laptop goes to sleep or I close it, upon awakening it shows a colorful screen with vertical lines, and the curser is a square (picture attached). Not every time, but a hard restart usually gets it back to normal.
